What TalkToMedi Learned at e-Health About Building for Canadian Healthcare
A year ago, TalkToMedi’s introduction to e-Health looked very different.
The company was still early, and its founder, Kino Song, did not have a conference pass. He spent time outside the venue trying to meet people between sessions and understand where TalkToMedi might fit within Canada’s digital health conversation. It was an unconventional way to participate, but it reflected the stage the company was in. TalkToMedi was close enough to see the importance of the room, and still early enough to be learning how it could contribute.
This year, TalkToMedi returned with a booth and a team, taking part in the conference more directly.
Since that first experience, TalkToMedi has grown to support patient access across a Canadian clinic network representing more than 1.5 million patients. That growth is an important milestone, and it has changed how the company thinks about its role. In healthcare, reaching more patients means staying connected to the clinic workflows, provider capacity, and patient needs behind every interaction.
With that context, e-Health became less about showcasing what TalkToMedi had built and more about understanding the system its work now touches.
What stood out was how directly start-ups could learn from people working inside healthcare delivery every day. The conversations brought TalkToMedi closer to clinic leaders, health system teams, digital health leaders, operators, and builders working through the practical realities of care.
That access matters because it is easy to build from assumptions, especially in healthcare, where the distance between an idea and daily clinical reality can be larger than it first appears. The most useful conversations focused on how a tool fits into a clinic’s day, what patients need to understand before they can act, and where technology has to make life easier rather than add another step.
For TalkToMedi, those conversations reinforced the importance of building patient access automation that is clear, practical, and grounded in clinic operations.
Start-ups should attend e-Health because the conference brings them closer to the people, workflows, and decisions that determine whether healthcare technology can be adopted. It is a place to build with a clearer understanding of care.
