What motivates you to volunteer as a patient partner?

Christine MacKinnon   |   March 12, 2021

I once read that “teachers don’t teach for the income. Teachers teach for the outcome.” That is what motivates me to volunteer as a patient partner/advisor in the health care sector. Patient partners aren’t usually paid for their contributions and are often the only unpaid members at committees and conferences.

We do this work because we believe in improving health outcomes for other patients, families and caregivers. We believe that changes in the health care system only come from contributions of thousands of voices from all across Canada.
