e-Health 2023 Monday Plenary Panel

Working together to advance a modernized health system

Monday, May 29 from 4:30 to 5:30 pm ET.
Presented by e-Health hosts Canada Health Infoway, Canadian Institute for Health Information, and Digital Health Canada.

Recent events have drastically changed Canadians’ expectations around health data and the ability to use it for clinical care and health system decision-making. The status quo isn’t good enough. Patients and clinicians require health data to make informed decisions about care. Health policy- and decision-makers need access to data to ensure that our health systems function efficiently and with the right resources. Canada needs demonstrable leadership around the big issues in the health data landscape, such as modern data governance, data sharing across organizations and jurisdictions, and approaches to better partner with industry. The acceleration and progression of this imperative require skilled resources, coordination, strategic partnerships and a collective commitment to a modernized future for digital health and data interoperability in Canada.

This session will highlight the efforts of three national organizations—Canada Health Infoway, Canadian Institute for Health Information, and Digital Health Canada—that are collaborating with one another and with federal, provincial, and territorial governments and other key stakeholders to advance the vision of a modern health system based on a foundation of interoperable health data.
