Build Once. Deploy Nationwide. Vendor Alignment to Make Interoperability Real for Clinicians | Hosted by OntarioMD

Monday, June 15 from 11:25 a.m. – 11:55 a.m. in Breakout Room 4 – Convention Hall Level

This CIHI–OntarioMD joint initiative demonstrates how vendor alignment can turn Canada’s national standard the Canadian Core Data for Interoperability (CACDI), into real-world clinical impact. Rather than advancing interoperability in theory, the collaboration will look to bring together EMR vendors and system partners to co-develop and implement a production-ready digital health use case grounded in the CACDI in support of jurisdictions across Canada. The focus is simple but transformative: build once at the standards level and enable deployment everywhere. By co-designing the data standard with clinicians, engaging vendors early, validating functional requirements needed by clinicians at the point of care, and designing for cross- jurisdictional scale from the outset, the initiative aims to reduce duplication, accelerate adoption, and make interoperability tangible in everyday clinical workflows.

Join us as we explore how coordinated vendor engagement, shared implementation approaches, and alignment to Canada’s national data standard, the CACDI, can move Canada from fragmented solutions to scalable interoperability, delivering measurable value to clinicians and patients alike.

  • Speakers:
    • Aidan Lee, Executive Director, Technology Solutions and Vendor Accountability, OntarioMD
    • Christine McKenzie, Program Consultant, Interoperability Engagement, Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI)
    • Chandi Chandrasena, Chief Medical Officer, OntarioMD
