Looking Ahead to e-Health26
By: Shelagh Maloney, Chief Executive Officer, Digital Health Canada
Every year, the national e-Health Conference and Tradeshow reminds me why I love being part of Canada’s digital health community – and I use the term community very deliberately.
As Canada’s largest digital health conference, e-Health brings together some of the brightest minds from across the country and around the globe. Leaders, clinicians, researchers, policymakers, entrepreneurs, educators, and innovators gather to share ideas, challenge assumptions, and explore how technology can help improve healthcare and healthcare delivery for all Canadians. Despite the diversity of perspectives, roles and regions from which we hail, we are a community that is passionate about building a more connected, intelligent, and human-centered health system for all Canadians. At Digital Health Canada, we are looking forward to sharing a sneak peek of our new five-year strategic plan (2026-2031).
The new strategy reflects a clear ambition: to strengthen the people, ideas, and connections that will define the future of healthcare in Canada. It’s more than an organizational roadmap – it’s a plan shaped by the voices, aspirations, and priorities of you, our members. It reflects our collective ambition to strengthen Canada’s digital health ecosystem, grow a connected community, support the workforce of the future, and help shape the national conversation about digital health.
We’ll also be showcasing findings from Canada’s Digital Health Workforce Report. As digital health becomes increasingly central to healthcare transformation, and to take full advantage of our unique strengths in healthcare, AI and research, we need to ensure that the workforce is keeping pace with digital transformation. The digital health workforce report quantifies Canada’s digital health and health data workforce, identifies capability gaps, and priorities for action. We hope the report will spark important discussions about workforce development and the future of our profession
While I am excited about the sessions, announcements, and insights that will emerge throughout the week, what I look forward to most remains unchanged. Every year, e-Health provides an opportunity to reconnect with national and international colleagues and friends while meeting new people who bring fresh perspectives and new ideas.
This year is especially exciting because, for the first time, we are gathering in Halifax. There is something fitting about bringing Canada’s digital health community to the East Coast, a region known for its collaboration and warm hospitality. I know many attendees, like me, are looking forward to experiencing the city, but even more importantly, to the conversations and connections that make this event so valuable.
I look forward to seeing many familiar faces in Halifax and to meeting many new ones. Safe travels, and I hope you have an inspiring and rewarding e-Health26. Please drop by our booth to find out more and say hello.
