Submit an abstract for e-Health 2020

Since its inception, the e-Health Conference has taken a journey of growth, innovation, and adaptation. To help celebrate its 20thanniversary, the e-Health 2020 Program Committee wants to hear about the evolution and growth of projects that support and enable digital health innovation in Canada.

We want to hear from Canadian digital health professionals, practitioners, front-line care delivery workers, IT/IM specialists, vendors, project managers, and anyone working with technology to improve health for Canadians. We welcome stories from people representing acute care, community care, homecare, long-term care, First Nations health, mental health, and telehealth/virtual health sectors.

Notes on Abstract Submission

  • Listen to the e-Health Program Director’s webinar explaining how to submit a a successful e-Health abstract here.
  • Deadline for Abstract Submission is October 16, 2019 at 23:59 PDT
  • Abstracts should highlight the key objectives, focus, activities, and outcomes of your work as outlined in the Abstract Template. Please review and follow the Abstract Template guidelines in order to ensure due consideration of your submission by the Abstract Review Committee.
  • Please delete identifying information (e.g., project or institution name) from the abstract to enable blind review.
  • All submissions will be rated for originality, merit, relevance, clarity, and alignment with conference objectives.
  • One primary author per submission will receive a discounted conference registration. For panel presentations, discounted registration will be extended to two panelists. Additional presenters pay full registration fee.

Presentation Types

Panel Presentation (20 - 30 minutes)

  • Panel Presentations allow a team of three or four presenters to offer different perspectives on a topic, initiative, or experience in single session.
  • Structure for a 30-minute session includes 20-25 minutes of discussion/presentation time and 5-10 minutes for audience engagement. 20-minute sessions include 15-20 minutes of discussion/presentation time with 5-10 minutes for audience engagement.
  • Panel presentations take place in a session area equipped with a podium, microphone(s), laser pointer, PC laptop computer, LCD projector, and screen.
  • Enter oneprimary presenter in your abstract submission. If your abstract is accepted as a Panel Presentation, please contact speakers@e-healthconference.com to identify the remaining presenters. For panel presentations, discounted registration will be extended to two panelists. Additional presenters pay the full registration fee.

Oral Presentations (14 minutes)

  • Structure for each 14-minute Oral Presentation is at the discretion of the presenter, who may choose to assign appropriate Q&A time within the allotted 14 minutes.
  • Oral Presentations take place in a session area equipped with a podium, microphone(s), laser pointer, PC laptop computer, LCD projector and screen.
  • Enter oneprimary presenter in your abstract submission. One primary author per submission will receive a discounted conference registration. Additional presenters pay full registration fee.

Rapid-Fire Presentations (10 minutes + facilitated discussion)

  • Rapid Fire Presentations spark dynamic networking discussions around important digital health topics. Multiple speakers in the same stream present in a tightly controlled format that keeps information and conversation flowing.
  • Structure: Rapid-Fire Presentations cover three questions on three slides in ten minutes. Rapid Fire Presentations may include one cover slide plus three content slides with the following titles:
    • Slide #1: The healthcare challenge;
    • Slide #2 Outline of the existing barriers;
    • Slide #3 The Solution.
  • Each of the three slides will be displayed for three minutes:
  • A facilitated townhall-like discussion will follow the last presentation of the group stream.
  • Rapid Fire presentations take place in a session area equipped with a podium, microphone(s), laser pointer, PC laptop computer, LCD projector and screen.
  • Enter oneprimary presenter in your abstract submission. One primary author per submission will receive a discounted conference registration. Additional presenters pay full registration fee.

e-Posters (10 minutes)

  • Electronic or e-Posters are available for viewing at designated stations on the tradeshow floor during tradeshow hours throughout the conference.
  • Structure: e-Poster authors upload images, slideshows, and/or videos for delegates to view and interact with at designated stations on the tradeshow floor. In addition, five- to seven-minute oral presentation (with two minutes for audience questions) will be scheduled at an e-Poster station.
  • Enter oneprimary presenter in your abstract submission. One primary author per submission will receive a discounted conference registration. Additional presenters pay full registration fee.
  • Each e-Poster station will be equipped with one large touch screen LCD monitor and one microphone for the presenter. Audience headsets will be provided.

Best Overall e-Poster

e-Posters received by Friday, April 3, 2020 will automatically be entered in a contest for Best Overall e-Poster, with the winner receiving a complimentary registration for e-Health 2021 in Toronto. Winner will be selected based on:

  • Content, clarity and impact
  • Concise messaging
  • Appropriate use of graphics
  • Creative use of media
  • Originality and overall visual appeal
